A phenomenal £100k milestone has been reached by Richards Castle Soap Box Derby following 14 years of fundraising by organising soap box racing down Hanway Common. The community run event has donated a whooping £12,750 this year to local charitable organisations, pushing the grand total to £103,770.

Richards Castle Soap Box Derby has always been about local money raised going to local causes. Since the first soap box cart rolled down the hill in 2004 the event organised by volunteers from the village has donated funds to over 50 different charities and local causes.

The nominated charities to benefit from funds raised at this year’s Richards Castle Soap Box Derby include ECHO, The Cart Shed and Working Together. These charities enrich, support and empower the lives of local people in our area.

ECHO aims to make a real difference to the lives of disabled people across Herefordshire.  Being a small independent charity, ECHO are able to respond to the individual needs of their 230 members. Participants are closely involved in the running and governance of the organisation, this helps the charity develop projects they really want and need.

Working Together

Working Together was founded in 2002 and has developed into a voluntary organisation providing support, training, work experience opportunities and recreation activities for people with Learning Disabilities (LD). We exist to encourage the inclusion of people with LD in all aspects of community life.
